I recently was browsing the internet when I stumbled upon an article about the aspect of Aikido . Wow!!! what a great piece that was. For the last seven years that I have been practicing Aikido, I have never come across such a well written definition of Aikido. Never have I been presented Aikido under that angle.
This is the exact content and substance that we want to bring to our customers at www.aikiodseishin.com . Most people I speak to about Aikido tend to view it as a series of self defense techniques, when this fabulous martial art is way more than that.
Besides the obvious physical aspect when training “bare hands or with weapons ”, Aikido is a lot more like a way of life. The way you practice this art will dictate the way that you will deal with adversity in your own life.
A lot of Aikidokas tend to forget that their Aikido training partner is their own reflection and thus must practice with care of not hurting one another. Thankfully I have always trained in dojos that inspired trust and respect.
Speaking of respect, to me being respectful extends all the way to having the proper attire for training. Your Aikido uniform must always be clean and well presented. The folds on your Hakama must always be sharp. As for weapons, everybody should have their own, and if by any chance you fail to bring yours for practice, always respectfully ask permission before using someone else’s.
My wish for all Aikido enthusiasts is that they find the dojo that suits their needs and personality.
All my best
